Options on the Way
Wall Street Survivor is developing the capability for Survivors to trade equity options. What are options? Options are leveraged securities to buy or sell stocks on a specific date at a specific price. They give the owner the option to buy or sell 100 shares of a stock at that time and specified price. For more information, see: Using Options to Reduce Risk.
The ability to trade options will be made available in 2009 and will most likely be separated from the regular $250,000 contest portfolio due to the enormous profits (and losses) that are possible by trading options.
Initially, only basic buying/selling of puts and calls will be available. Later, writing options, creating spreads and other complex strategies will be available.
