New Contest and Prizing Format!

Written by Mark Berger

The new contest starts Tuesday, September 2nd, right after Labor Day. We are moving to a perpetual contest format where your portfolios NEVER get erased. Prizes are awarded based upon percentage gains rather than absolute dollar gains.

So, after the current contest ends on Friday, August 29th, your contest portfolio will not not change or be reset. You will be able to continue to trade through the Labor day weekend and your trades will get filled at Market open on Sept 2nd.

The new prizing structure features Monthly, Weekly, Daily prizes and a brand NEW Loyalty Points prize! Every Week and Month, a new contest will start and you will be able to see how you stack up in each category on the Leader board.

Every month we will give away over $20,000 in cash and prizes to more than 200 Survivors! Here is the breakdown:

Can someone link me to an official statement where WSS says that this contest is only for U.S. residents?

(I hope “Non USA Visitor” doesn’t work for the Customer Service… lol)

The contest is for residents of any country.
The problem, and the only thing I dislike of wallstreetsurvivor is what the prizes are only for U.S residents.
One resident of another country don’t will put all your effort in the contest because he have not chance of win money.
I dislike this rule very much, but rules are rules.

3. Eligibility

Wall Street Survivor’s free contests are open to all legal residents of the United States and Canada(excluding residents of the province of Quebec), who are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in their state or province of residence, if such age of majority is greater than 18, as of the date of entry into this Participant agreement. Employees of Wall Street Survivor, and its subsidiaries, or any sponsors of the Contest, their respective advertising and promotion agencies, their parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, as well as members of their immediate families and households (including children, spouses and siblings and/or persons living in the same households as such persons, whether related or not) are not eligible for participation. The Contest is void wherever prohibited and subject to all federal, state, provincial and local laws and may be restricted to certain states or provinces. To determine your eligibility for a particular contest, consult the Rules for that contest.

Participation in a contest for which you are not eligible will place you in breach of this Agreement and the applicable Rules and result in the forfeiture of any prize or award earned and subject you to civil and potential criminal liability.

Don’t you mean “Outside USA” ?

I already e-mailed wss. Whoever said this was USA only, is just a prick that wants less competition. Also the link in his/her name leads to a blank page…

What will happen to the “permanent” portfolio?

I guess percent change has its merits, although those who do badly won’t have a chance to have their portfolio’s reset (at least for free I mean).

13. On August 25, 2008 Mark Berger wrote:

@All - The game is free for anyone in the World! Due to legal reasons, prizes are only available to those who live in North America (except the Canadian province of Quebec).

@DaNjF - Your Permanent Portfolio will also remain exactly as it is.

weekly prizes, are they amazon money or actual cheques? I’m assuming amazon money still. Also how is the ranking ladder going to work? Now we’re not going to see portfolio value, but percentage value for the month?

17. On August 27, 2008 Treasurebay wrote:

Could someone please explain what the “Weekly” contest is? Is it highest portfolio or highest percentage???? I cannot figure it out. Thanks.

18. On August 27, 2008 Mark Berger wrote:

@Treasurebay:
Weekly prizes are awarded to portfolios with the greatest percentage gain which is exactly how they are currently calculated. No change there.

Previously, there was a rule that stipulated that you had to have a portfolio value of at least $100,000 to be eligible for weekly prizes, but that rule is being eliminated. Everyone is now eligible for Weekly prizes.

@OracleofCanada:
Also, prizes of $100 or less will be given Amazon gift cards. All prizes larger that $100 will be in cash.

@desai
Everyone in the World is free to play Wall Street Survivor. Only North American residents (except Quebec) are eligible to receive prizes.
