New Weekend “Mystery Stock” Game
We’re about to launch a new game designed to keep Survivors engaged during the long weekend when stock markets are closed.
It’s the “Mystery Stock” game! Every Friday after the market closes, we’ll post in the Forums one or two clues about a “mystery” stock. On Saturday, we’ll post one or two more clues about this stock. On Sunday, we will provide one or two last clues about this mystery stock.
The first person to email the WSS Community Manager (community at wallstreetsurvivor dot com) the correct name of the stock, their survivor name and their T-shirt size, will win a WSS T-shirt. All other correct entries received before Monday at 9:30AM will be entered into a random drawing for 50,000 Loyalty Points, 1 month of free Real-time Quotes and a Bull/Bear puppet.
The first game will start at 4:30PM on Friday, February 6th in the forums, here. Please let us know how you like the “Mystery Stock” game by leaving a comment below.
Changes to the Prize Pool – Loyalty Points Prize Cancelled
Starting February 1st, there are going to be several changes to the Survivor prize pool:
- The number of Monthly Investor and Trader prizes will decrease from 50 to 10. The reason being that the large number of prizes were difficult to fulfill and the $15 prize was not considered valuable enough. Most Survivors never even bothered to claim it.
- The number of Weekly overall prizes will decrease from 10 to 5.
- The Monthly Loyalty Points prize will be eliminated. As noted before, there has been rampant fraud in friend referrals in an effort to win this prize.
- The Daily random prize for placing a trade will decrease from $50 to $25.
- The overall yearly prize pool will decrease from $250,000 to $100,000.
Unfortunately, these changes are due to the economic downturn and the reduced advertising rates we have been able to secure for your participation in the game. Nonetheless, Wall Street Survivor will continue to be a free service so that anyone can learn how to trade stocks and experienced traders can experiment with new trading strategies.
Free Portfolio Resets Coming!
Soon, we are going to have free Portfolio resets available for anyone who wants them.
This is driven by the need to limit the Weekly prizes to Survivors who only have portfolios with a value greater than $50,000.
So, to make it fair for all Survivors, you will will be able to reset your Portfolio for free, if you wish.

Look for this offer at the top of the Dashboard.
Get 10x Loyalty Points for Referring Friends
With the new contest starting September 2nd, we are running a special Loyalty Points promotion. Now, when you get your friends to play WSS, you will get 15,000 Loyalty points, or 10 times the regular payout amount of 1,500!
All points that you can earn for referring friends will be eligible for the new Monthly Loyalty Points Prize of $1,500 awarded to the Survivor who earns the most Loyalty points in each calendar month.
So, invite your friends now while this promotion lasts!
Revised Header Design
We’ve revised the top header for all pages and changed the color scheme a bit.
First, the “Survivor of the Day” feature is going bye-bye. While it was cool, it didn’t really say a whole lot. Now, we’re going to feature a new Survivor who is active in the community, about once a week.
Second, we’re putting the top community stock picks, and the best trade from yesterday in the top header.
Lastly, we’re emphasized how many people have actually won a lot of money on the site! In a little over a year, we’ve given away over $152,000 to 441 winners. We might as well emphasize that we do PAY OUT and we’re not a scam.
Here’s how the new top header will look throughout the site, around August 1st:

Amazon gift cards for all Daily & Weekly Winners.
We have had gift cards in the past, but do to popular demand the contest winners for the new Jan-April Contest will be seeing more Amazon gift cards in their Inbox. $100,$150,$250 gift cards will be sent to those who win Daily and Weekly prizes, making this Contest the best yet, because You get to choose the prize!
New Forums, T-Shirts and Corporate Name to start the new year.
Our new Commuity Server (Survivor forums) was a joint effort from the development and production departments and the outcome was a nice looking place for Survivors, Newbies and Staff, to meet and share ideas about the game. What do you think about the forums?
The new WallStreetSurvivor T-shirts are here, and thanks to our Creative Department, we have a really cool looking shirt. What do you think of the design?
Finally, we have a new Corporate Name, Stock Trak Group, Inc. (BB:STKG), as of last Friday which better reflects our true purpose: building world-class Stock Market simulation software and games.
Do you Feel like you’re Swimming with Sharks?
We’ve noticed that many Survivors feel like they can’t win prizes* and compete with our top players like GoMaxGo and Dojimon. We see comments like, “I can’t ever beat those sharks.” That may be true, but we’re thinking of ways to make the game experience better for everyone.
So, we’re toying with the idea of breaking the contest into groups based upon past performance in the Permanent Portfolio. It would go something like this: after having played the game for 30 days, everyone would get a handicap (like in golf) and be placed into a playing group, or league, of their relative peers. That way, you would be competing for prizes against Survivors of relatively the same skill level. And the contest would never end. Prizes would be awarded on a regular basis like Monthly and Weekly.
Of course, not all groups, or leagues, would be created equally. The League for GoMaxGo and Survivor would be the top league and they would compete for the biggest prizes. But anyone, with determination and learning, could eventually move up into the top league where the big boys play.
How does that sound, Survivors?
*In the last Survivor survey, an overwhelming majority of Survivors (89%) said they preferred more prizes of lesser value rather than fewer prizes of greater value.
