WSS Version 3 Coming in September!
A whole new version of Wall Street Survivor is coming to your browser in September.
It will have a new look and feel below (see below) in addition to several new features that you have asked for in surveys:
- New Stock Quote page that integrates stock ratings from Zacks.com, technical analysis from Recognia and stock stop prices from Smart Stops. the page will also contain vital basics like charts, company information, news and, of course, a stock quote.
- New StockTalk feature that creates discussions centered around specific stocks. Rate the best comments and watch them float to the top of the board!
- New Trading Diary that will allow you to keep notes and set alarms about stocks you own. The Diary will integrate with the existing Watch List, Open Positions and Transactions pages.
- New ETF Center that allows you to find hot ETFs!
- New Currency center
- Multi-portfolio capability for each account – no more opening up multiple WSS accounts
- Integration with Twitter! The best from Twitter about your stocks!
- Survivor Sentiment: find out how the community feels about any stock!
- A Message Center so that you can send private, direct messages to other Survivors. The Message Center will also send you brokerage related messages such as dividend notices and alerts to your expiring options.
- And many new bug fixes and new user help features to make the WSS fantasy trading experience even better!

New Stock Screener
We have a new Stock Screener which we think will be much more helpful to Survivors looking for stocks to buy or short.
This new Stock Screener from Zacks has many, many options by which to screen for companies in the 10,000+ stock universe.
Survivor Spy
Would you like to know when your favorite Survivor Makes a Trade?
Imagine getting an email alerting you a top Survivor has just bought Sold, or Shorted some stock. That’s the premise behind a new premium service called “Survivor Spy”.
For a nominal monthly fee (about $19.95), you will be able to get instant emails delivered to your inbox as soon as one of your favorite Survivors makes a trade.
Look for this to arrive later this summer.
New Weekend “Mystery Stock” Game
We’re about to launch a new game designed to keep Survivors engaged during the long weekend when stock markets are closed.
It’s the “Mystery Stock” game! Every Friday after the market closes, we’ll post in the Forums one or two clues about a “mystery” stock. On Saturday, we’ll post one or two more clues about this stock. On Sunday, we will provide one or two last clues about this mystery stock.
The first person to email the WSS Community Manager (community at wallstreetsurvivor dot com) the correct name of the stock, their survivor name and their T-shirt size, will win a WSS T-shirt. All other correct entries received before Monday at 9:30AM will be entered into a random drawing for 50,000 Loyalty Points, 1 month of free Real-time Quotes and a Bull/Bear puppet.

Next Tick Game
We’re rolling out a new game called the “Next Tick” game.
Here’s how it works:
1) Go to: http://www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/Private/Games/NextTick.aspx
2) You’ll see a ticker symbol, its last price (delayed by 15-20 min), and a chart.
3) Guess if this stock will go up or down in the next minute
4) If you’re right, you win 50 Loyalty Points. If you’re wrong, you lose 50 L.P.
There is no limit to the number of times you can play this game during the day! The game is open from 10AM to 4PM every trading day.

Best Stock Trade of the Day

Due to corporate actions like name changes, splits and stock ticker changes, the accuracy of the Best Trade of the day has been spotty, at best. For example, yesterday’s Best trade (on 9/16) which displayed at the top of every page shows a $276,360 gain for REV which split 10-1 yesterday. This “Best” trade is not realistic or accurate.
While we work to fix this feature, we are going to take it down and replace it with the Weekly winner.
Expert Stock Picks
Many Newbie Survivors understand about stocks and the stock market but don’t have any idea of how to find stocks to trade.
As one Survivor, brainiac, wrote on her Blog:
I signed up for the “fantasy stock market” and perused the pages of Google finance. And I have no idea what to do with all of that information! There’s a big search window to “get quotes,” but what am I getting quotes for? I understand the idea of buying and selling shares, but that represents the entire body of my knowledge on the subject. How do I figure out what companies I want quotes for?
So, we have Starter Stock portfolios for anyone who signs up (TIP: they are also available if you reset your portfolio).
OK, then you’ve got about 10 stocks picked by someone. But then what to do?
That’s when we came up with the idea of Expert Portfolio picks! We are going to replace the “Balanced” “Conservative” and “Agressive” starter Portfolios with Portfolios created by some real stock picking experts. One of them we hope will be Peter Navarro, who is an Economics Professor at UC-Irvine and is Harvard educated.
And those experts will then update their picks every week, so that you can get some guidance, some new stock trading ideas and start to understand why these picks are getting made.
Expect this to be on the site in about 2-4 weeks.

We’re hooked up with the very smart folks at TradingHistory.com who are providing Survivors with one very good stock trading tip every day.
They scan their enormous historical database of stock prices every day and compare it to patterns that they have observed in the past to make a prediction about one stock. Their accuracy often reaches the 90% level!
It’s really quite elegant and simple. Give it a whirl and then test out their trading ideas with a fantasy stock portfolio!
New Research Pages
In our effort to provide Survivors with research tools on par with Yahoo! Finance, Google Finance or any other web site, we have added three new Research pages:
Financials show valuable stats like Price/Book, Price/Earnings, Return on Equity, Profit Margin and many others. In addition, you can see the latest Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow for a company on a quarterly and Annual basis.
The Company News Releases are the latest happenings like earnings reports and new product announcements.
The Technical Analysis page is great to see what the technical indicators are saying to do: Buy or Sell? There are Price Indicators, Volume Indicators and Trend Indicators all providing their signals to help you, dear Survivor, make sense of the market and develop your own trading style.
