Wall Street Survivor has launched a major upgrade that contains several new features and improvements that users like you have requested.  Among the many improvements, here are the most significant new features:

1. You will now be able to have multiple portfolios, rename those portfolios, and keep a Trade Diary so that you can record comments and lessons learned with each trade.
2. StockTalk: new discussion boards dedicated for every stock that allow you to voice your opinion, and allow other Survivors to rate your comments.
3. A new Quote Page includes many more research tools including technical analysis, Mark’s Stock Rating, Zack’s Average Broker Rating, SmartStops.net target stop loss points, Survivor Sentiment, and an overall composite Stock Score.

Overall, you will notice that each page has an updated “look and feel,” easier navigation, a universal Search box, and more educational links to help you become a better trader.

Other new features:

• New! Futures Center provides a snapshot view of all markets 24/7 so you can stay on top of indices, currencies, metals, and other commodities on weekends and late at night (that’s for you, “Late Night Crew“).
• New! ETF Center provides a quick analysis of the best performing ETFs, most active ETFs, and a quick search to find the ETFs that track the markets of interest to you.
• New! Currency Center provides a quick analysis of the major currencies, their cross rates, and a handy currency converter.

We at Wall Street Survivor are excited to inform you that we have released a mobile version of WSS! You will be able to trade all the same equities and securities that you can on the web from any mobile phone with an Internet connection. You will have access to all of your portfolios including your 100k contest, permanent and options portfolio. This service will come at no extra charge to you, aside from your existing data package.

In addition to making trades, on WSS Mobile you will be able to check your account balances (long and short), open positions and order history. You can also get updated quote details on your favorite equities including updated price, volume, change and day range. Finally, you will be able to view a market summary giving you details on the NASDAQ, S&P 500 and the NYSE.

Imagine getting an email alerting you a top Survivor has just bought Sold, or Shorted some stock. That’s the premise behind a new premium service called “Survivor Spy”.

For a nominal monthly fee (about $19.95), you will be able to get instant emails delivered to your inbox as soon as one of your favorite Survivors makes a trade.

Look for this to arrive later this summer.

This should significantly decrease the amount of time time it takes to place trades which can be crucial for Day traders, or Survivors who simply want to lock in a fast-moving price.

Here’s a sneak preview of the new trade page which should be live around Halloween:

Redesigned Make A Trade page with the following features:

• New Trade controls are laid out in a left-to-right row to emphasize the task flow; once something is selected, it should move to the next stage automatically. Clicking on a previous control takes you back.
• Each step in the trade taskflow is highlighted with an explanation, which can be folded up into a minimal version by clicking the triangle in the corner
• Trade logic is designed to prevent error messages. Each step presents only the possible options given the previous step, so it is impossible to select a trade chain that does not work; the only error message should be for a ‘Symbol Not Found’.
• For Stop and Limit orders, a pop-up dialog allows the user to set the price. If selected incorrectly, they can just click elsewhere or press Esc to close the pop-up and reset that drop-down to ‘Type’.
• If an order is a regular Market order, then the Duration control is greyed out.
• Once a quantity is entered in the QTY box, then it should jump to the Preview stage automatically, and the information displayed should update dynamically if the user increments or decrements the QTY value, for instance, if they want to achieve a specific trade price, etc.
• New column design with links at left, ad column at right incorporating the new tabbed content box

With our latest software update, you can now choose which emails you wish to receive from Wall Street Survivor.

Do you love the Weekly Newsletter but find the Daily Wall post notification emails annoying? Just go to your Edit Profile page and you can select which emails to stop receiving.

Due to corporate actions like name changes, splits and stock ticker changes, the accuracy of the Best Trade of the day has been spotty, at best. For example, yesterday’s Best trade (on 9/16) which displayed at the top of every page shows a $276,360 gain for REV which split 10-1 yesterday. This “Best” trade is not realistic or accurate.

While we work to fix this feature, we are going to take it down and replace it with the Weekly winner.

As one Survivor, brainiac, wrote on her Blog:

I signed up for the “fantasy stock market” and perused the pages of Google finance. And I have no idea what to do with all of that information! There’s a big search window to “get quotes,” but what am I getting quotes for? I understand the idea of buying and selling shares, but that represents the entire body of my knowledge on the subject. How do I figure out what companies I want quotes for?

So, we have Starter Stock portfolios for anyone who signs up (TIP: they are also available if you reset your portfolio).

OK, then you’ve got about 10 stocks picked by someone. But then what to do?

That’s when we came up with the idea of Expert Portfolio picks! We are going to replace the “Balanced” “Conservative” and “Agressive” starter Portfolios with Portfolios created by some real stock picking experts. One of them we hope will be Peter Navarro, who is an Economics Professor at UC-Irvine and is Harvard educated.

And those experts will then update their picks every week, so that you can get some guidance, some new stock trading ideas and start to understand why these picks are getting made.

Expect this to be on the site in about 2-4 weeks.
