Maximum Shares to Buy

Written by Mark Berger

According to the Wall Street Survivor contest rules, players may not hold a single position that is worth more than $25,000. This creates often annoying error messages on the trade page when you attempt to buy more than the $25k limit rule.

So, some smart Survivors suggested that we build a handy-dandy little button called “Max. Shares” that in one click provides the maximum number of shares you can buy for that security. How about that for progress!

We hope to have this ready in June with a more streamlined trade page. See the mock-up below:

Reset (Your Portfolio) Button

Written by Mark Berger
Portfolio Reset button

We’ve had a lot of requests from Survivors who would like to reset their Portfolios and get back to $100,000.

So, we’ve come up with a handy-dandy RESET button that we hope to roll out in June when we open our new Store. We’re thinking that the first reset would be free, like a Mulligan in golf, and all future resets would be priced around $9.95. There would be no limit to the number of resets available to Survivors.

Price Feed Issues Create Negative Portfolios

Written by Mark Berger

Negative Portfolio ValueWe have experienced several 30-60 minute outtages from our stock price feed vendor, Thomson Financial. For the last year, they have provided our Survivors with excellent price quotes, but for some reason it is breaking down.

This problem causes your entire portfolio to suddenly show a negative number (which is impossible) and for all your open positions to show a price of $0.00.

Needless to say, we are urging Thomson to fix this problem as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for this service interruption and will fill any orders not processed due to there problems.

Classic Dashboard View

Written by Mark Berger

The old, beloved Dashboard view that contained a simple table of Open Positions is coming back after an outpouring of love and support for it. It will be an option and it will supplement the new Dashboard views. Expect it to roll out in about 1 week. Here’s a mock up of what it should look like:

Classic Dashboard View

We still like the new view on the Dashboard, it’s pretty sweet, too!

New Site, some growing pains

Written by Mark Berger

Welcome to the new 2.0 version of Wall Street Survivor. We hope you like all the new features.

If you were playing on the first day, Thursday May 1st, we apologize for the outtage, but we’re back on track now taking thousands of trades every day.

There will be no weekly prize for the first two days of trading (May 1st and 2nd). Good luck Survivors!
